Extracting the last of the honey supers,,, should be done by the 1st of Oct. Honey production has been below average for the midwest... but all the drought has done a job on the crops..... Allways looking to next year.

Have been looking at alot of different bee locations the past week, so good, and some not quite as good. Looks like the bees have been gathering some nectar in the Missouri locations, but the Kansas bees appear to be done for now.. Nothing really blooming... Hope we get some much needed rain in August, then the bees go gather some fall honey for them this winter...
Bev and I have been busy this week working the NEKBA (NorthEastKansasBeeAssociation) honey booth at the Johnson County Fair... Traffic has been pretty good, and honey sales appear to be doing well.
Honey Harvest 2012
by john speckman on 07/21/12Have been busy removing box's of honey from some of our Kansas Bee Locations, and started extracting.. looking better than thought it would be. Took 70+ box's off the last 2 days, so will spend tomorrow extracting to have some empty box's to put back on for a fall flow... hopefully.... will be putting more pic's on the photo page..
Beekeeping Updates

In the last couple of weeks, we have been busy movin bees trying to stay ahead of crop sprayers... still had several yards of bees in the line of fire.. will keep a close look at them, but the populations are down quite a bit, seems the field force may have been killed by the spraying.
Started to remove some of the clover crop, looks like the average this year is going to be way below normal, some locations will not even pull anyhoney... as they say... next year will be better.. Am posting pic's on photo gallery page...enjoy...
Have another 35 nuc's trying to build up... requires weekly feeding just to keep them alive... Will be using some of these for pumpkin pollination later this month.
